Winter Urban Cycling Mood
Winter cycling moods with a spot of neige. The grey winter days cause things and people to lose their edges and become diffuse.

Christmas Tree Transport
Lulu and I were unlocking our bikes outside the school, ready to head home, when one of fantastic teachers at our school walked past the bike racks pulling a trailer. "Where are you going with that, Heidi?", asked inquisitive Lulu.
"I'm picking up a christmas tree on the way home and I'm borrowing one of the school's bike trailers."
I couldn't let THAT photo opportunity pass me by, so Lulu and I met Heidi at the flower shop where she was buying her tree.
After a classic Copenhagener discussion about how to position it in the trailer (every Copenhagener has an opinion on how to transport stuff by bike), Heidi went with what really is the best option. Standing tall. She tied it down a bit to be sure and then she was ready to go.
A few snaps of the camera later, and Heidi was heading home to the Nørrebro neighbourhood in the evening bicycle traffic with this year's tree.
I love Copenhagen.

Bicycle Furniture
I have this Bullitt cargo bike parked in my living room and it took my kids 0.5 seconds to figure out that it can be used to watch films or play games on the XBox. Now we use it as a sofa slash chair slash jungle gym.
As cool as that may be, it does NOT beat this:
Because this is quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen in the bicycle furnishing category. Fantastic!

Portraits of Cyclists: Mathilde - “This is Copenhagen!”
“I'm
from Copenhagen. I bike to work every day. I've always got a classic
city bike like this one.
I
really appreciate cycling on this bridge. Sometimes, here on Louises
Dronning Bro the line of bikes waiting at the traffic light is longer
than the car one. I don't know exactly what to say about that, but
this is Copenhagen!
Photographers
and journalists often film this bridge since it is always full of
cyclists.
“Do
you have a specific memory from your childhood relating to cycling?”
“My
parents got divorced but for one of my birthdays they both celebrated
it with me and they offered me a bicycle. I still remember very well
this birthday and this bike.”
2015 is just around the corner, it's the moment to get your Cycle Chic Calendar. It is available here and it will arrive on time for Christmas.

Holiday Shopping Season
It's that time of year. For a lot of different things. We can certainly question the the all-powerful consumerism that is ever-present in our society, but that may be subject matter for another blog.
The fact is, people have stuff to buy in December. Lots of stuff. Christmas trees are among that stuff and over at Copenhagenize.com you can see how THAT gets done by bicycle. Then there are presents, food, you name it. It all needs to be transported around. From A to B and on to C. In Copenhagen, a lot of that is done by bicycle, too.
The weather doesn't always work with you when you cast yourself headlong into the shopping frenzy, but a bicycle gets the job done.
Bicycle baskets serve their purpose on shopping expeditions.
Although a strong shoulder is functional as well.
A kids seat provides extra load capacity for the bigger stuff you need to get home.
The strap on the kids seats comes in handy, too. Then there is the back rack found on virtually every bicycle. That's what it's there for.
You don't always need to ride the bicycle when hungry guests are on the way,
Front racks are booming in popularity, meaning bigger stuff is coming home with you on your bicycle.
You get to contemplate your purchase all the way home, which may be a good or a bad thing.
You can, of course, plan early for the holiday season, starting your shopping in the summer.

3 is a Cycling Crowd
Even though people always want more space more and more cycle paths offer space for 3 people cycling together. So you can plan your weekend together or exchange the latest news bits.
Look-a-like trio roaming Copenhagen.
Threesome out nightclubbing.
Copenhagen Cycle Police out in force.
Happy cycling!

Autumnal Yellow Backdrop
The best part of autumn. Leaves blanket the city like a duvet, providing a splash of welcome colour and a perfect background for cycling photographs.
The gloves are out in force again. A sure sign that autumn is irreversible.
And now that we've moved the clocks back an hour and the days are getting shorter, yawning will undoubtably increase. :-)

Red and Yellow Heading for Autumn
Methinks we're seeing a pattern here. We're heading into deep autumn here in Copenhagen and it certainly appears that the best colour to go with yellowing leaves is... red. As these morning commuting shots attest.
Matching your clothes to the colours of the seasons is a much underrated pursuit but no less important than matching your clothes to your bicycle of choice.
It's also wonderful to consider how the simple act of cycling can easily become a painting.
And the boots are back, for sure.
