Mysterious Girl: Never Got Her Name

Stepping on my biky brakes when I spot this furry girl on a pastel bike. Curious… what does she look like if she turns around?

Waiting for Miss Mystery I make a little dance, turn around and grab the look of another stylish chica:

When facing Miss Mystery my heart jumps; don’t expect she looks like this. I imagine soft brown hair – here’s no hair, a decisive nose piercing, a decisive look… And wauw, such a sweet smile that starts creeping up her chin:

I just love it when things aren’t black and white. Love Life – love blogging – love you!

It's that time of year in Copenhagen. Odds of riding a bicycle at night, in snow, are rising.

The Cycle Chic Republic Calendar for 2014

Just in time for winter. The first snow fell on Copenhagen today. The bicycles rolled on.

Almost by coincedence, we launched The Cycle Chic Republic Calendar for 2014 at the same time. It's the sixth annual calendar from us here at Cycle Chic and this year we have featured photography from a whole bunch of the great people with blogs in the Cycle Chic Republic.


Almost by another coincedence, we spotted the first christmas tree of the season(of many) transported by bicycle here in Copenhagen.

Don't worry, friend, the summer will be back

Well, hello there ;) Searching for summer one freezing December day in Copenhagen... this girl does it by getting herself a nice bouquet of flowers.

Where this blog post started. Spotting a promising text on a wall at Kongens Nytorv. And deciding to chase Summer - at windy and zero degrees Celcius.

Portraits of cyclists - Astrid: “Explorer” is a nice name for a bike

“I cycle every day, everywhere.”

“Where did you find your bike ?”

“I got it for free since I found it in my parents' garage. It's very old. I like it. It's written « explorer » on it and I thought it's a nice name for a bike.

I found these handles in Berlin.”

“Do you feel that you belong to the cyclists community of Copenhagen ?  Do you think there is a specific cyclist culture in Copenhagen ?”

“When I was younger, the bike culture in Denmark was nicer. The cyclists were more friendly on the bike lanes. Now, I think people are a little bit more aggressive. But I like biking and I'll keep on cycling. I'm definitely a part of the cyclists community of Copenhagen.

Actually, we are more and more cyclists every day. The bike lanes are too narrow now. We need more space.”

“You cycle with a nice coat today, where does it come from?”

“It comes from Japan.”

Portraits of cyclists - Jens: “Today, I'm just riding around the city to discover new places”

“I cycle every day to the main station to catch my train to Roskilde where I study. I have a single speed bike which can be turned into a fixie. I think it's a cool bike. I come from Jutland and I think that in Copenhagen there is a bike culture that does not exist in the other cities in Denmark.”

“Why do you like biking in Copenhagen?”

“I bike because it's fast and cheap. It's also nice to get the opportunity to take a look at new places. Today [Sunday afternoon], I'm just riding around the city to discover new places.”

Settling myself in Copenhagen Latin Quarter – can’t help shoot a photo of this cool & girly 5-some, while waiting for fashionable cyclists. Wonder what or who they are waiting for?

Working my way towards the main shopping street Strøget, I pass one more classic looking guy – now with a sixpence:

Portraits of cyclists: Anne-Katrine - “I picked each part of the bike that I wanted”

Anne-Katrine is the happy winner of the photo contest Shop by Bike KBH organized as part of the CycleLogistics project.

“I bike everywhere within Copenhagen. To me, transports are not just about getting from A to B. By biking you get the sense of the city and you get fresh air. It's just fantastic.”

“Is it a new bike?”

“Yes, it is. I got it at Cykel Fabrikken (The Bike Factory). They have lot of different choices and you can design your bike yourself.

I picked each part of the bike that I wanted. It's my dreamed bike. I chose these leather handles because they are elegant and not too extravagant. The saddle is a Brooks. The locks are usually ugly and boring but this one bright up the bike. I like the small details.”

SO sweet: The Friendly Copenhagen Hug – on bike

Standing just by great Danish pastry house Lagkagehuset, I couldn’t help taking a photo of these two sweet friends-on-bikes.

Two more friends. Hey handsome guys, where are your bicycles?!

Moving on to Illum and Købmagergade, I also had to stop this guy. His bicycle umbrella takes 30 km of wind! Riding in the rain – with absolute style.
