Do It Like a Dane. By Miami Artist Rose Miller.
That's right, for the first time there will be no Cycle Chic photos! That's because we're using a different kind of medium thanks to the talented Miami-based artist Rose Miller. I met this wonderful human being whilst attending Danish classes in Copenhagen and our shared passion of art and bicycles quickly sealed us as friends. She's now gone ahead and produced a series of paintings celebrating her love of Danish living, Danish design and of course, Danes and their bicycles!
"Think, Be, Ride, Bike, Design...whatever, just do it like a Dane." Like many, Rose Miller thinks it's a brilliant idea for everyone to get on their bike. However, unlike many, she wanted to express her reasons why by creating a series with vibrant colours and quirky touches. "Cycling - it's very 'green' but more importantly it allows physical activity to creep into our daily lives. It keeps us in shape, gets us engaging once again with the outdoors and this rejuvenation gives us a new lease of freedom. It's from this freedom and 'exercise high' that allows our creative gates in our brains to burst open."
"People are cycling all over the world - some places more than others. Amsterdam and Copenhagen are well known for it, they really are King and Queen of all cycling cities. However, it was whilst I was living in Denmark that I noted that Danes were not only known for their love of bicycles but also their love for design."
"Every Dane I knew had a bicycle (if not more than just the one!) but I also noticed that they all had a specific type of lamp in their homes. It's funny to me as I don't consider Danes to be nationalistic like we are back in the States..."
"...although Danes do always use their flag on birthdays and buy things made in Denmark. I totally came to understand why. Not because it's Danish, but because it's probably damn good quality and design. Design - that's where a lot of their pride and hearts lie."
A huge congratulations ("Tillykke!") to Rose Miller on her artwork and to say that Copenhagen misses her very dearly!

Gooo Tjili Pop – real Copenhagen hygge hipster
Ahh… grab your bike this weekend and spend some time at one of the trendiest cafes at Nørrebro! And yes – Copenhagen is a bicycle friendly city – just notice the bicycle (right) hanging down from the wall…
My co-blogger Wiola stumbled by this great place… this is what she told me:
This week I invite you to Tjili Pop. Great for a coffee and, this is call for talented people, showing your songs for public, as every week they have so-called speake’s corner (cphblonde: Oh gosh, I already get butterflies in my stomach, I’m SO lousy at singing:/ But I looove to listen).
Tjili Pop is the essence of Danish hipster world, so cozy, simple, posh is the word, which even cannot be whispered here.
If you like The Doors and old lumber stuff this place is for you.

Cycle Chic in San Francisco
These days, Copenhagen Cycle Chic is in San Francisco where the number of cyclists is booming.
Well, the dominant profile among cyclists is still "young men riding race bike". But, it is now diversifying quickly and "citizen cyclists" are enjoying more and more the streets of SF, steep or flat.
Whatever the district, cyclists are reclaiming the streets:
Skirt & bike race on Polk Street
One saddle for two to ride on Valencia Street (Mission)
Shopping with a cruiser on Marina
Hipster in Mission
Woolly hat & tank top on Aquatic Park
More cyclists from SF here.

Portraits of cyclists: 1976 SCO bike rider: “I came across a guy on the same bike. We looked at each other bike and said “hello”
"I'm on my way to the office. I work for a suit company called "Lasse".
I fell good when I'm riding my bike. It's quite easy to ride: single speed, back break, limited maintenance.
"You always have to wear nice clothes due to work. Do you think that cycling is compatible with it?"
"Not always. I have a winter bike as well, for the rainy days, with a mudguard."
"Do you have a good memory related to your bike?"
"Yes of course, especially in Copenhagen. It happens with my old SCO bike (a Danish brand), known to be the world champion bike from 76 and quite rare in Copenhagen. I came across a guy on the same bike, the frame was almost the same. We looked at each other bike and said "hello".
Mercier single-speed bike - French brand.

Hot Guys in Copenhagen Latin Quarter
How come my bike & I always end up in Copenhagen Latin Quarter?! Even on my way to work in Illum I make sure to make a detour; step off at Vesterbro Station and bicycle the extra mile. Through Studiestræde...
Maybe it's because this area lifts my spirits. Being here makes me want to be all that I can be, motivates me, makes me dare to be different - YAY :)
Or - maybe it's just because of all the cool guys?
Have a look...
Well, hello there (;
Plenty of them.
In hot shoes.
They may even be cleaning cool cafe Atlas Bar before opening hours...

Blind Me With Your Colours
Not known for their colours, Copenhageners will try to show otherwise. Bring on the colours!
I had to stop Maria outside Tjili Pop as I love her Aztec-imspired jacket. Teamed with those sunglasses and I am sold!
Copenhageners are loving the colourful highlights it seems!
Here's Emily on her way from long day shopping in the city. Sadly she didn't some away with anything but lovin' her cute look (including the bike!).
Her favourite bike accessory is of course her flower-weavened basket. She showed me the lights there had been installed so that at night her rose basket lights up. Of course, making my girly heart skip a beat.

Pastels and Beiges Add a Soft Touch
Is it a bathrobe or is it a light coat? Who cares! It looks great.
Long coat over a long delicate lace dress looks like something Florence Welch (Florene + The Machine) would wear. Gorgeous!
Oversized beige coat. Simple and so so sophisticated.
Pastels and beiges look beautiful in the streets of Copenhagen. Anyone who has ever visited can spot this specific colour palette all over the city.
Hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend!

How To Get Copenhagen Hipster Happy - in 29 seconds
What a day! Continuing The Hipster Way aka Miss K.E.G.'s post from yesterday. First I meet Aske…
Such a cool and friendly Copenhagen dude – his hat is from Wardrobe 19 in our Latin Quarter! He loves to take a break at Hipster Bridge on his way home from school. And enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
Speaking of Hipster Bridge. I continue over the street to The Bridge, noting I’m the proud No. 25.780 cyclist passing it today.
And then.. holy mama, approaching a real Hipster Bridge party, performed by Karmakanonen.
Am I right or am I right...? And LOL – recalling my test drive at Freetown Christiania 4 months ago...
Hey Friend, you actually need to watch my video on the blog to see my embarrassing Karmakanonen Tour De Christiania ;)
Hope I made you smile today! You take care - ENJOY your weekend.
Over & out,
