Carry On, Copenhagen

Canopy and Clouds
A little batch of Copenhagen Cargo Bike Supermum photos from last week. Coincedentally, four of them riding Christiania Bikes. Above, a crossing moment on the King's New Square under moody clouds. The canopy helps in the event of rain.
Supermum
Waiting for the light to change. The two kids in the box were sitting on their bench reading library books. How lovely is that?
Pink Riding
Another classic Copenhagen transport shot.
Family Ride
A family out for a ride. I suspect they might be tourists, but that is wonderful that they are seeing the city in a Copenhagenized state.
A.C. Perchs
And here's a Nihola bike with camoflage canopy outside Europe's oldest tea shop, A.C. Perch's Thehandel. My friend Christian's family have been running the shop for generations. They've just opened a tea salon upstairs. Even if you don't drink tea, pop inside for an aromatic experience. They do a great online sales service as well, shipping to tea lovers all over the world.

We're pleased that our Cycle Chic message is spreading. One of our readers, Lisa, sent us this link from the Canadian newspaper The Globe & Mail. Copenhagen Cycle Chic Goes To Canada.

Based on the tone of the article, it's as though the journalist JUST realised that it is possible to ride in style and in heels. It's a bit corny the way she explains things, but hey, it's all good news for Cycle Chic.

Bike Blondes

Not all Danish girls are blond. And not all of Copenhagen's girls bike...
But some do. A lot, actually, and they do it with summerly laid-back grace.

And while we're not shy about our affection for The Cycling Girl here on the blog, here's a bike that accomodates seven of them at once. Fourteen heels. And a dog.

Rainbow Biking

The Danish summer is full of rain AND sun. Thus, all kinds of rainbows fill the streets...

ALIS
As we've stated earlier at copenhagenize.com, colours make bikes and their owners stand out. They are a savoury spice to a rolling bike culture. Bring them on!

Great Moments in Cycling

Poise
An average Copenhagen corner made brilliant by prescence of self-propelled Copenhagener.
Great Moments in Cycling
Creative use of a Short John delivery bike and a wooden crate, as they ride along The Lakes in the heart of Copenhagen.
Tender Red Light Moment
He reached over and caressed her cheek ever so tenderly before the light changed and they rode off together towards the rest of their lives.

Blue
I really like the mood in this shot.
Been a bit busy these days, but more groovy posts are on the way.

Heels and Patterns

Pink Ride
Copenhagen Bike Culture Colours. As long as we keep hearing "people ride in HEELS there?!" we'll keep showing that they do.
Cargo Bike Supermum
Hmm. I many have discovered another pattern here. For the second time in a couple of weeks I've seen a Copenhagen Supermum with a cargo bike with heels, steering with her right hand and holding her keys in her left hand.

Bike Lane
A lovely stretch of bike lane.

Summer House Bikes: Cobwebs
I cleaned up the bikes at the summer house. They came with the place, two lovely old school bikes and an old BMX for kids. But somehow the bikes looked lovelier covered in cobwebs.

Monday Morning

Imminent Storm
Storm clouds over classy [and rather unconcerned] Copenhagener.
Turn and Glide on
The bike lane near city hall, on Hans Christian Andersen's Boulevard, takes a little left/right turn. Enormous fun in a tailwind.
Frame Stickers
It's a tiny little victory on our "take back the bike culture" quest, but a victory nonetheless. As you know, we have a little online boutique, wherein we have a sticker department.
Bike Frame Stickers from Copenhagen Cycle Chic
They have a few standard sticker templates for my designs but I had been itching to make bike frame stickers. So I used the car bumper sticker [ha!] template and made three stickers for your bike frame. You have to cut them out yourself, but they look smashing on a bike frame. Get them while they're hot and while they're still my own original idea! :-)

Guest Photos July 2008 from Cycle Chic
Another batch of lovely Cycle Chic photos from our readers around the world.
Clockwise from top left:
Napoli Kiss from Cristiano; a new shot from Paris by Humberto; Tiago with his Flying Pigeon in Paris; photo shoot from Jorg & Olif bikes; Pedro sent us this photo of his girlfriend in Lisbon; Alan sent us this California Cycle Chic shot; a fellow Copenhagener, Toke, sent us this rare sight - a Copenhagen fixie girl; and finally, in the middle, Joi next to a cyclist counter in the Danish city of Odense.
Thanks to all of you for thinking of us and showing us Cycle Chic from around the world.

Get a Normal Bike
A bit of playfulness.

Gucci
Gucci is in on the act of producing luxury bikes. But at least the photo is cool.

Windy Days

Billowy
Windy Copenhagen days are lovely days. Which is lucky when you consider that fact that we live on an island and have to live with wind year round.

Harbourlicious

Went to take a dip in Copenhagen's harbour bath next to the Brygge Bridge. Place was crowded with Copenhageners going home from work - or just going somewhere in the nice afternoon sunshine.

It's my shadow in the bottom right photo. Not very discrete!
The guy with the pink shirt and red helmet is a former colleague, Jacob, a really nice bloke. Just a shame I didn't recognize him until after I'd taken the photo - he was long gone by then :)
