Tasting Our Own Medicine
Last week, I was out shooting for this blog when I suddenly noticed a cool guy rushing past on a splendid bike. I hurried to get a pic of him and then it struck me - I recognized him! You might too... Now normally he's the one spotting others and blogging about it, but I got away with taking a pic of Mr Meta Dapper himself without being noticed.
As for me, this is how I look on my bike, camera in hand.

Dapper Danish superdad picked up the kid today.

Jazzed Up
Town is buzzing with the yearly Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Everyone is out on their bikes, shopping a bit of bebop, avantgarde and New Orleans... 900 concerts all in all. Yes, that's a lot.

Another Pattern Emerges
Off to the summer house for a week or so. Blogger has a function that lets me post while away! So nobody has to live without Copenhagen Cycle Chic! Yay!
Copenhagen Supermum on her Nihola Cargo Bike.
I see a pattern developing here. Supermums on Niholas wearing short skirts and high heels...
A pattern not unlike Louboutins and old Raleighs.

Harbour Hygge
Oh, the joy of gently rolling around Copenhagen, taking in the cozy coolness of it all!
If Hans Christian Andersen's little mermaid were a blond Danish girl on two wheels, it might have been this one. She gazed firmly down into the water as if looking after something she'd lost.
It's not hard to convince friends to stop by at the harbour, it being located in the centre of Copenhagen and with the fresh air and shimmering water easing everyone's minds.
Here's Nicoline, a typical cycle chic Copenhageness, and a good mate.
This guy looked so smooth, rolling in from somewhere in the 70'ies.
For a long time, this stylish business guy sat and wondered how he could make his car-driving buddies shift over to the cycle chic life style.

Oriental Cycle Chic
After two months in Malaysia working for the Danish version of 'Expedition Robinson' ('Survivor' in the US), I (Marie) am glad to be back 'n' blogging!
Like many other Asian countries, Malaysia is full of cars everywhere, and urban infrastructure is a nightmare. But on the little island of Besar where the production crew was located, bikes were crucial to get around. All kinds of small errands were done by bike, and if you met someone you knew on the way, you just hopped off and joined them by foot.
Maybe it wasn't a coincidence that this year's crews were from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland and Belgium - countries with a considerable tradition of cycle chic?
To illustrate, here are two prop girls carrying a sewing machine and an ironing board while chatting gently in the sun.
The carpenters were eager cyclists, always heading somewhere with cases of skulls or coconut leaves on their back racks.
I only spotted a few Malaysians on bikes. However, these muslim chicks in the small harbour town of Mersing seemed to enjoy themselves..
When standing in front of the world's highest twin towers, Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers, there's no reason not to spread the message!
For more global cycle chic sticker statements see our previous post on the matter.

The Copenhagen Blues
Getting the Copenhagen Blues is not necessarily a melancholy affair. Fashion note: If you don't fancy matching your clothes to your bike today, you are more than welcome to match with the oh so blue bike lanes of Copenhagen.
Hej, I'm stopping!
A Copenhagen cyclist near the Central Train Station.
Waiting calmly for the light to change. Style over speed, as always, toujours, for evigt.

I'm off to the summer house in Sweden for a week. I've turned on the comments moderation, so your comments won't appear until I get back. Marie is back from two months in Malaysia, so we're looking forward to seeing her back on the blog!
Ciao for now, ragazze.

Elevation
We've been at this for a while now, but we still get people saying things like "how can she ride in those heels?!" Let's face it, tens of thousands of Copenhagen women can't be wrong. Let alone a few hundred thousand daily heel-wearing female cyclists from elsewhere in Europe. :-)
But the photo above is so much more than lovely heels. It is summer in Copenhagen. A smashing red dress flowing down the street on a tailwind. Warm weather, stylish cyclists, a whole world of optimism. In Copenhagen getting stuck behind other vehicles in traffic is not always a bad thing.
Another energetic shot of a Copenhagen cyclist in action. Heels again.
Let's not forget the fashionistos of the city.
