Life-sized Copenhagen

The Little Mermaid isn't small. She's life-size. Much like city she calls home, and that is the key word for everything here in Copenhagen. Greatest thing about this city is motion. It is never ending flow of happy people heading from A to B. In the 1960's this city was as car centric as any other city. Visionary decisions were made and now we can see the result of constant fight for life-sized city. City that is made for people, for its citizens. The vast network of safe, segregated bike lanes criss-crossing the city has encouraged people to use their bicycle. Everything starts with infrastructure. Build safe, reliable and connected infrastructure - more cyclists will come.

Image above proves the liveliness of this city, the human scale that Copenhagen stands for. To Cycle Chic in this city is so easy. It just comes naturally.

Happy Cycling!

Squad Goals: Cycle Squad.

A group of friends cycling together on a chill afternoon. Tribe mentality, happy traveling.

A family cycling together on that same chill afternoon. Tribe mentality, safe traveling.

We all search for a good company, life is better spent that way. Life is also better spent in a city where you can ride along with your favorite company and spend a good time moving from point A to point B. Mobility and a good company should go hand in hand. Mobility and a good time should also go hand in hand.

Happy cycling!

It's All About Space: The Cycle Chic Space.

The urban fabric in a Life-Sized City provides space. It provides space for mobility, expression and socialization. This shot from a Saturday afternoon in Vesterbrogade, one of the main streets in Copenhagen, is a simple example of the freedom . It was a busy day on the streets, but this girl knows how to work it all out riding on her bicycle and keeping it chic.

She knows she has enough space as a bicycle user and cars won't mess with that. She rides easy and glamorously carrying large cargo, talking on the phone and rocking a green, poncho sweater.

She shows off her style without endeavor because the blue lane is her runway.

Fur Queen on a Cargo Bike

We've talked about the powerful aspects of a woman on a cargo bike. The reasons are endless. This woman, however, left us speechless. This woman rode her Christiania bike in a timeless manner. She could be dressed purposely 80s style or it could be an unintentional, retro embrace. She carried colors that blend in the urban landscape, but a face that sparks beyond what is happening around her, you can tell she's done this before. She rides pondering, as if not caring about the impression she leaves behind, and still it is an impecable one. An impecable impression with a sense of enigma. For this is what cycle chic strives for when hunting for content: unique simplicity carried when riding everyday from A-to-B.

Happy cycling, everyone!

DIY Cargo Bike! What's that like?

His name is Christian and he introduced himself to us when he noticed our obsession with his whole composition as he cruised by. He was cycling comfortably, carrying all his tools with a pretty big smile on his face. He knew how cool he looked with his red beanie, orange sunnies, and four wheeler cargo bike. The reason he looked so comfortable in his space is because he built it himself! He made his cargo bicycle to size, to fit his needs. How? Danish brand XYZ Cargo focuses on building customized, functional bicycles that are environmentally friendly and socially conscious. Pretty cool concept, what Christian shared with us this sunny afternoon in Copenhagen. XYZ Cargo is all hand made right here in Christianhavn, Copenhagen, but they also give away a step by step guide to encourage people to build their own cargo bike. Each of the designs they have is based on low-cost, light-weight, highly durable construction. That's not the best part. The best part is the assembling being simple, straight forward and requiring non-specialized tools to produce. It is no wonder this guy was so excited to share his unique cargo bike story with us...
Thank you, Christian.

Blue Mystery

In this city, "street style" cannot mean the same as it does in other cities around the world. Street style in Copenhagen includes a bicycle, no matter what. That is what makes our job in Cycle Chic really exciting. Any and every style and personality is embraced riding a bicycle. Bicycles are a major asset in the overall composition of your everyday style.

This Copenhagen street moment captured through our lens is about a mysterious man in blue. He must have decided to have elegance and simplicity as priorities in his composition. He matched his bicycle with his scarf and the rest was left for black to take over. Black beanie, black, puffy jacket, black gloves... Two accents in his composition made him stand out from the classic Copenhagen Black.  He rode past us on his triangle, vintage bicycle and smiled.

Happy cycling!

The Market Experience on a Bicycle

In Copenhagen, going to the market is easier and more fun than anywhere else in the world simply because you can do it on your bicycle.

Park right in front of where you want to go because urban cycling includes a couple easy stops along the ride. Show up wearing sweatpants, white trainers, and a purple, blanket scarf because you might stop at the next shop on the way...

Arrive making a scene.
Don't hide yourself or your stuff in the back of a pickup truck... Lock your vehicle and grab your black, leather tote from the frontal display of you bicycle we like to call a basket.

Exit quickly, though.
Place all items in your available compartment , in this case, a portable, fiber basket would do just fine, and continue your journey with your bicycle. Or I should say your -never ending- journey with your bicycle...
