Social
It's a given, in almost any culture, the more people are out and about, the more likely you are to run into someone you know. A friend, an ex-lover, a colleague, a favorite teacher. Chance encounters. Little surprises that put an extra push in that peddle.
It would be interesting to find out just how much these surprise meetings increase in liveable walkable bikeable cities. Sounds like some good number crunching to keep us busy at copenhagenize.com. Until then, photos of those unanticipated, hopefully delightful, meet ups...

The Love Handle
We're lovin' the bicycle, the flowers on the basket, we're lovin' the poncho and the relaxed style.
We're also lovin' that Love Handle she's holding onto. To hear all about what THAT thing is, read the Copenhagenizing Copenhagen post over at ... surprise, surprise... Copenhagenize.com. We like to spoil our bicycle users in Copenhagen.

Rio Cycle Chic Bike Ride
When I was in Rio de Janeiro last week I was picked up by bicycle at the airport and rode all the way into town on bike lanes. THAT is a sign of a cool city.
The next day my friends put on a fantastic Cycle Chic bike ride to celebrate the launch of Rio de Janeiro Cycle Chic. A 12 hour affair starting at five in the afternoon, we were around forty or so people at the peak. We rode along the bike lanes parallel to the iconic LeBlon, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches before heading around the bay to the monument commemorating the founder of the city where I gave a short speech about Cycle Chic and what it is all about and what it can achieve. After beers - and wonderful snacks provided by the bicycle-oriented La Biciclette Bakery in Rio - we moved on to various bars and nightclubs. A cracking event true to the Cycle Chic spirit. Rio is ready for Cycle Chic.
Here are some beautiful photos from the ride from our photographer, as posted on Sydney Cycle Chic.
We'll be posting some more shots from the city quicksmart.

Copenhagen - City of Cyclists Music Video
At long last. The music video I made for the City of Copenhagen is now finished. It's a promotional video aimed at highlighting how the bicycle is an integrated part of this city's urban fabric and the many ways that the citizens use the bicycle.
I filmed throughout August 2008 and a few times during the winter, when it snowed.
It's a great thrill to finally get it online. I showed the film at a bicycle conference in Riga a couple of days ago - the world premiere as it were - but here is the video, finally online.
Enjoy. And feel free to embed it on your website.
