Cargo Bike - a Workhorse That You Don't Have to Feed

Cargo bikes can easily replace car in your everyday local trips throughout the city. They are everything you would need a car for, but as the famous slogan says : "This one runs on fat and saves you money."
Take a look at the family above - a family of four fits in perfectly... and still there is a place for shopping bags. No problem! And yes, it is also winter, a bit of cold breeze and still Cargo Bikes is the perfect choice for the journey.

Happy cycling!

Look Out for Cargo Ladies

Three-wheeled cargo bikes with ladies by the handlebars are a familiar sight in Copenhagen – they are the perfect solution for urbanites wanting to drop the kids off at nursery or simply after attacking the local shopping mall during the weekend. Cargo bikes give you freedom to move and bring the stuff that you need in your everyday life without any problem. Moreover, the infrastructure in Copenhagen is designed wide enough to provide the space for cargo bikes, so you never feel unwelcome.

Cargo bike with the kid and the dog inside. Why not.

Cycle track wide enough to ride along with your older child and while the youngest is still inside the cargo bike.

Catching the sunlight together is the best way.

In other cities you would probably see these people in the car. Not in Copenhagen.

There are no excuses. You can look elegant and chic also while riding cargo bike.

These ladies look as good as people taking public transport, car or walking. Urban cycling, even with cargo bikes, is an everyday activity that does not limit you from dressing up nicely. You can cycle and still look pretty, be healthy and overall happy. You can pick up your kids from school or go grocery shopping. Cargo bike is the right choice when it comes to mobility in the city!!!

Fur Queen on a Cargo Bike

We've talked about the powerful aspects of a woman on a cargo bike. The reasons are endless. This woman, however, left us speechless. This woman rode her Christiania bike in a timeless manner. She could be dressed purposely 80s style or it could be an unintentional, retro embrace. She carried colors that blend in the urban landscape, but a face that sparks beyond what is happening around her, you can tell she's done this before. She rides pondering, as if not caring about the impression she leaves behind, and still it is an impecable one. An impecable impression with a sense of enigma. For this is what cycle chic strives for when hunting for content: unique simplicity carried when riding everyday from A-to-B.

Happy cycling, everyone!

DIY Cargo Bike! What's that like?

His name is Christian and he introduced himself to us when he noticed our obsession with his whole composition as he cruised by. He was cycling comfortably, carrying all his tools with a pretty big smile on his face. He knew how cool he looked with his red beanie, orange sunnies, and four wheeler cargo bike. The reason he looked so comfortable in his space is because he built it himself! He made his cargo bicycle to size, to fit his needs. How? Danish brand XYZ Cargo focuses on building customized, functional bicycles that are environmentally friendly and socially conscious. Pretty cool concept, what Christian shared with us this sunny afternoon in Copenhagen. XYZ Cargo is all hand made right here in Christianhavn, Copenhagen, but they also give away a step by step guide to encourage people to build their own cargo bike. Each of the designs they have is based on low-cost, light-weight, highly durable construction. That's not the best part. The best part is the assembling being simple, straight forward and requiring non-specialized tools to produce. It is no wonder this guy was so excited to share his unique cargo bike story with us...
Thank you, Christian.

They are on the same line. They both have a red light, but we know that in Copenhagen cyclists get green light few seconds earlier. Yes, in Copenhagen guys with cargo bikes rules!

It is true. You just get so happy while cycling in Copenhagen!

It is basically your second home.

As easy as it can be... Going to pick up kids or just cruising... CARGO BIKE!

Double Dealing Days, Part II

No matter where you are going to and what you are doing. The streets of Copenhagen with cycling lines wide enough to fit two cyclists cycling together side by side gives you a possibility to share these beautiful everyday moments with your friends.

It is pretty ordinary in Copenhagen to see couples cycling from A-to-B. It is cheaper, faster, better and lets be honest - later you can use the money for a nice, romantic dinner together.

It starts with couples and continues with families...

Take your friend and share the ride !!!

Autumn Rush Hour on the Søtorvet Intersection

Spend some time people watching in Copenhagen during the afternoon rush hour and this is what you get: Cool people commuting on a bicycle. As they drift away in the autumn sunset, the image creates a quick, urban story...

Friendly Exchange on a Cargo Bicycle

Every moment in the urban landscape is different. Every second we can admire something special and unique if we pay attention. We spotted a confident, beautiful woman trasporting on a cargo bicycle with an adorable, young passenger enjoying a snack. It was noon on a fall day, they both spotted the camera and acknowledged it with a smile.

Nice, instant exchange between strangers sharing the urban space.

Cycle Chic Polaroids

Motion in the urban landscape.

In an urban world where people travel on two wheels without metal shields blocking out oxygen or interaction, the urban landscape is much more raw. We are all exposed to one another. Our emotions, scents and priorities can be received from a mile away. Who we are is shared with all who spontaneously or intentionally moves next to us in the public space. Cycle Chic is about capturing this rawness, the simplicity of what people do on the streets, accompanied by their bicycles of course. We thought an accurate way to project the uniqueness of danish society was through Polaroid pictures, a raw medium that cannot be edited, duplicated or forgotten. Here's a set of four 600 film polaroid photos shot in a chilly, autumn afternoon with a 1988 Cool Cam.

Kid in the back, no problem!

Three wheels and three humans. That's one neat, cosmic cargo bicycle!

Number 200.
She's holding her new born close and pushing the oldest on the cargo bike, beautiful.

Ultra Cargo Bike

Copenhagen Bikehaven by Mellbin - Bike Cycle Bicycle - 2016 - 0196

Maybe the largest cargo bike I have ever seen in Copenhagen. The wooden hold is very cool. I imagine its a bike-able shop for selling food or drinks.

Cargo Bikes and Kids

Copenhagen Rush Hour
Even with 40,000 cargo bikes in Copenhagen, most cargo bike action involving kids takes place in the neighbourhoods, where families live close to the schools. 26% of all Copenhagen families with two or more kids have a cargo bike. It's the Copenhagen version of the SUV.

There are cargo bikes with kids in the morning rush hour however. Here are a few of them. Just a kid reading a book on their way to school.
