The State of Washington

Our friend and photographer Derek from Washington State has a couple of new photos to share. Cycle Chic perfection, as always.

Derek has been nominated as the best wedding photographer in his region, and you can cast your vote in his favour over at this website.

Washington Cycle Chic

Derek, in Washington State, USA, is always kind enough to share his photos from BikeRubbish.com with us. After the previous post featuring photos of my Wifealiciousness, it's only appropriate that we feature this photo of Derek's Wifealiciousness - although he's not allowed to use that copyrighted name :-) - entitled "Grocery run with my sweet, sweet wife."

See some of Derek's previous shots on this blog with the 'bikerubbish' tag.

Eek not Ick

Another cracking photo from our mate Derek Pearson of Bikerubbish.com in Washington, USA. Thanks, mate.

I've discovered that many people pronounce the title of this blog [lifestyle, movement, source of inspiration] as Chic[k], to rhyme with 'flick' or 'kick' or 'Titanic' but we'd just like to point out that when pronouncing Chic you'll be wanting to say so that rhymes with 'sleek', 'cheek' or 'fantastique'.

In other words, we're not aiming for the US English 'Chick', which orginates by the way from the Spanish 'chica' for girl. We're aiming for the French word, 'Chic' meaning "smart elegance and sophistication especially of dress or manner". I knew that, but I found the fancy description by googling. Did you know you can type define:YOURWORD into google and press enter? It finds word meanings if you do. Try it. It's cool.

So is riding your bike complete with a surfboard rack. Thanks to Richard of Cyclicio.us fame, over in Santa Cruz, USA, for getting out there to snap it upon our request.

RIDECHIC

Get your own knuckles at the knuckle tattoo gun.

Let them know you ride chic and aren't afraid of telling people about it.

Guest Photos, Lingerie and The Wings of Hermes

It's been far too long since we've heard from our friend Derek Pearson from BikeRubbish.com in Washington State. Luckily, he sent this photo along the other day. In his words: "Hot date - heading to the outdoor movie with my sweet sweet wife :)" Style over speed, indeed. Thanks, as ever, Derek, for sending the photos along.

Here's another one from Derek, in San Francisco.

A Triumph for Cycling in Copenhagen

If you have a new underwear collection and want to show it off in Copenhagen, you use a bike. Oh, and underwear. Triumph paraded models down the pedestrian street in the heart of the city, led by a rickshaw from Flying Tigers Rickshaws - thanks to my mate Alkis who owns the company for this film.

The Wings of Hermes on your legs
Trouser clips from MOMA
Now while all bikes have chainguards in Copenhagen - and basically everywhere else with bike culture these - funky trouser clips might be of interest to those who need to protect their trouser legs. Ride with the Wings of Hermes. Available from MOMA.

Danish Basket Cases
Here's a link to a national newspaper's list of baskets for your bike. New, classic and everything in between. It's in Danish, but the links are clickable no matter what language you speak.
