Double Dealing Days, Part II

No matter where you are going to and what you are doing. The streets of Copenhagen with cycling lines wide enough to fit two cyclists cycling together side by side gives you a possibility to share these beautiful everyday moments with your friends.

It is pretty ordinary in Copenhagen to see couples cycling from A-to-B. It is cheaper, faster, better and lets be honest - later you can use the money for a nice, romantic dinner together.

It starts with couples and continues with families...

Take your friend and share the ride !!!

Happy Cycling!

Double Dealing Days

Copenhagen Bikehaven by Mellbin - Bike Cycle Bicycle - 2015 - 0200

Broader and better bike lanes are slowly making it easier to ride side-by-side in Copenhagen for peddling friends and couples. Still, more space is a top priority for many commuters. Above: Heading home from synchronous swimming? Below: Look left!

Battling a snowstorm and headwind is ALWAYS cosier if you have someone to chat with.

Putting the Share into Bike Share

Paris Bike Culture - Cycling Sociably
Bike share systems are in place in over 500 cities around the world, and the transformational effect on the urban landscape is massive. They have proved to be a real game-changer in our quest to reestablish the bicycle in our cities.

These photos put the 'share' back into Bike Share. Cycling is sociable and certain citizens take bike sharing to the next level. We've seen it in many cities around the world - people doubling on bike share bikes - but here's a selection of photos that we've captured.

Above... Paris.
Barcelona Doubling
Barcelona seems to understand the concept of sharing bike share bikes more than anyone else. Although the design of their Bicing bikes seems to invite passengers more than other bike designs.
Taking Bike Sharing Literally
In a pinch, even the old Bycykel bikes in Copenhagen could accommodate a friend. Just let your passenger have the seat and you can stand up and pedal.
Barcelona Cool
The same applies to any bike, of course. Like Bicing in Barcelona.

While the Stand and Deliver technique is popular, the Bicing bikes in Barcelona are used in a much more comfortable way.

Just have a seat. Go on a double date.
Barcelona Pushbike
To share a bike share bike you don't necessarily need to be both ON the bike. Here the young lady is pushing the young man along as they chat.

But sharing the frame seems to be the most widespread technique. And the most enjoyable.

Even if it's standing room only.

And why not share the bike on the school run?

Catching up on the streets of Copenhagen

Hey all!

My name's Kristina and I'm interning with Copenhagenize for summer 2013. I grew up in West London and am currently a student at the University of Manchester. I took a gap year (which may have turned into gap years...) in Copenhagen before starting university. Only upon starting uni did I realise how ingrained the cycling lifestyle had become in me. Now I'm back in Copenhagen and hitting the streets to find out what the latest cycling trends are.

Two Girls With Bicycles
It's the beginning of July and two girls can be seen here taking their bikes out for a stroll in Frederiksberg. No summer dresses to be seen as even the Danish summer has gone on vacation. However the girls show how to keep it casual in the cool.
Girl in The Purple
Casual Copenhagen look. Keepin' it simple. Keepin' it chic.
Cowboy
Cycling on the wild side of life...
Woman With the Pink Sneakers
Colourful sneakers. Check. Hair bun. Check. Bang on trend.
Girls in Christiania Bike
Hitching a ride in style... Girl Cycling By the Lakes
Fifty shades of green.

Man With the Cool Bike
Someone's pimped out their ride...check out that colour combination!

So that sums up my first day on the job.

Over and out!

Zagreb Revisited

Zagreb Cycle Chic Tomislav
Off to Dubrovnik, Croatia today, to open the Monumental Motion photo exhibition featuring photographs about Copenhagen's bicycle culture. Here are some shots of Zagreb cycle chic from last year. At top, Tomas from the Danish Embassy on his dad's old vintage bike.
