Age is Not an Issue

A humanistic, people-friendly city is first and foremost an accessible city, where mobility is possible for all. Copenhagen is a perfect example for that. The Danish cycle culture is as old as bicycle itself. With the best practice bicycle infrastructure, it is easy to spot older people cycling everyday. These ladies ether running their daily errands, going to work or just taking in that winter breeze, use their bikes to do that. Just beautiful!

Wind chill is not a problem. Just put on bigger scarf.

All set. Full front basket and package on the back rack.

In Copenhagen everyone meets on a cycling lane. Young or old, men or women, single or with family. Everyone is cycling!

Happy Cycling!

About the Cool Guys

The colour black persists. It is the essence of the men in Copenhagen. At least that's how it feels when you are trying to capture the ordinary Copenhagener. Why do so many Danes wear black? As simple as it is - it keeps you warm! Especially in winter, when sunlight is sparse and temperatures dip. Black absorbs heat, and so wearing more black is a practical method of thermal isolation.

You can feel the desire to maintain an understated image within Copenhageners, which essentially appears to be the accepted norm, people living in Copenhagen play it safe (together with the infrastructure that is made out of the best practice paying attention to its user) by donning neutral-colored apparel within the city that gives understated feeling in minimalist architecture and interior, hardly any huge advertisements... However, individuals can still stand out through details when you know where to look, like the trimmings of a coat, the silhouette of sneakers, or a flash of a piercing.

Wondering Through Streets of Copenhagen

It is no secret, that with bicycle you can feel the city. You are with the city. It is obvious, when cycling you take your time to look around. Like these people above. Bicycle is so convenient in the city that it is guaranteed - every ride will be a new experience for you. With every ride you will discover something new for yourself.
Enjoy this day and take your time when cycling home!

Cold Ready

Racing bicycle is her everyday transportation. Impressive hat keeps her head warm and it is a statement - "Winter Ready". Leather gloves helps to keep her hands in place - on the brakes. She is one of those fast cyclists. Waking up late, getting ready in a second... Her goal is to spend the least possible time on the way. You can see focus in her face. Nothing will disturb her. Not even us taking a photo of her. She is ready for the next ride. We hope to meet her again.

Happy cycling!

Own That Scarf

Yes, scarf in Copenhagen is a MUST HAVE piece. It is pretty windy here. There are no vertical mountains, but there are plenty of horizontal ones. Here is a post about ladies, riding their bicycles while keeping their scarf game strong.

Hide in your scarf, when the wind is against you.

Deep blue. As a protector, as an accessory. Scarf is your everything these days.

Keep your neck warm and match it with your gloves! Why not?

Bring the colours in the house.

Or keep it all black.

The bigger, the better!!!

Happy cycling and don't forget your scarf!

Puffy Jacekts

The weather is changing all the time, so puffy jackets are the best choice. Keeps you warm, easy to move (we mean cycle) and they look good.

This lady... All bronze. Her bike, her jacket, even her skin tone. We like it. It is not by mistake, she is chic and unique.

Or add a stand out colour. We are aware that Copenhageners like to wear black, but it is so nice from time to time refresh yourself with some nice colour. Good job!

The safe way. It is longer - to keep yourself warmer, black - because it always works, opened neck - because it not so cold, yet. With the beige boots and gloves in dark red this is a really nice combination.

Keep yourself warm.

Everything is in the Details

Super sporty bicycle. As well as the shoes. But his outfit... Pay attention to the mittens, with grandma pattern, 90's beanie and 90's style glasses... Moreover, long, camel colour coat, that keeps this all together. His style is mixed, but at the same time it is perfect as it is. You will definitely notice this guy on the streets. One more detail though... He has two water bottles on his bike, so really, he is a sporty guy in the coat!

We all are aware that velvet is so chic this season. And this women keeps it chic with her black velvet jacket, that has something special - the pattern on the bottom of the jacket and in the end of the sleeves. As well as navy boots and pants. All dark, with a bright coloured bicycle. What more!

Friendship detail is the most important in this picture! However, there is always something more than that. Socks and the way how the girl on the right is wearing her bags... The classy camel coat, black, soft pants with sneakers and top it all with burgundy beanie on the left. So Copenhagener!!!!

I think you understand... The pants!!! You can't just put on pants and think that it will work just the same... Everything is in the details, as said in the caption. Pants with white sneakers and white head band - this is how it works and she knows it!

Lets face it... Her best detail is the sun flare in the photo!!! And with the red coat, black leather backpack, super cozy neck warmer and beanie... Everything in this photo works so well... She deserves every single flare in this photo.

And this woman. Is she a office woman or a bad ass hiker... Can't tell from het outfit, because she is everything. She is not afraid to mix it when heading into morning rush hour to get to work. She could have changed her backpack to something more casual, but would we notice her then?!

Happy Cycling !!!!

Parisian Women Owning the Streets

Cruising through Paris with Velolib' bicycle is a common thing, but this lady stands out with her casual yet stylish look.

What can describe femininity more then heels, stand out accessories and confidence.

Beige and blue.... Keeping it simple and playing with tones... Can you spot the little heels?

Freshen it up with a colourful piece. This is Parisian style. What else do you need?

And if you can... match your bike with your bag.

This woman just represents them all!!! Chic yet simple. The vintage bike and red lips, all black and red nails! She's got it!

We were in Paris for 5 days and we need to admit that CycleChic loves Paris! In Paris you can spot all kind of urban cyclists - the sporty ones, the chic ones, the "I don't care" ones... But what connects them is cycling through one of the most beautiful city in the world - Paris. More posts with the recap of our Paris journey coming up in the next days!

The World's Only Gourmet Kitchen With A Puncture Kit!

selected2
Yes that's right - you are not being deceived, this really does exist. Morten, one of the craziest and happiest Danes I've ever met, has something that no-one else in the world has. A gourmet kitchen on wheels. After twenty years as a professional chef he decided to take his culinary skills to the next level. The bicycle-kitchen - the love child of combining two of his passions: bicycles and cooking.

selected12
At first I didn't believe that this stallion of a bicycle-kitchen could weave through the tight and narrow streets of his Copenhagen neighbourhood. He proved me SO wrong.

selected15
Casual scene of a kitchen gliding down the street. Nothing unusual about that at all...

So how did this begin? Well Morten loves to cook and as much as he loves working in a kitchen he also loves being outdoors. He also happens to have a long-established love for Long John bicycles. So one day it became painfully obvious to him to combine all of his passions: An outdoor kitchen designed on a Long John - I mean why not? So together with a friend they decided to take on the challenge of transforming his beloved bike by adding a sink, a stove and kitchen units.

DSC_0108
Morten is a firm believer in buying fresh local produce and even does his grocery shopping using his other Long John bike! Even just by looking at this collection of vegetables makes me feel healthy and terribly 'eco-chico'...

Morten preparing for the meal he's about to cook. He even uses his bicycle parts to hold his herbs! Talk about being innovative...

Then there was that moment when we all suddenly felt a few drops of rain come out of nowhere...decision time, will the flood gates open or not?

sadly it rained 2
They did. And this is Denmark so it rained HARD!

foodie3
Not to worry as this guy is always one step ahead! He just steered his kitchen over to an unused cycle passage and set up his dining space there.

foodie1
Making the place 'hyggeligt' or 'cosy' by lighting a few candles...and cracking open a bottle of vino!

foodie4
Bon appétit! Or in danish 'Velbekomme!'

foodie2
Morten has really found an alternative way to enrich his family, friends and customer's experience of fine dining. So here's a testament that some of the craziest ideas can really become some of the most ingenious and fascinating realities. Congratulations Morten - so dinner at yours next time, yeah?

He's known as the cycling chef or 'cykelkokken' - don't forget to like his Facebook page!

Finally the launch of the Cykelkokken website! Click Here.

Over and Out!
