Carry it with You, Guys!

This is known as the safe way how to carry your things with you while cycling from A to B. The Safe Way - if your bike is without any kind of rack.

Then, of course, you can step up your game by putting your bag on bicycle handlebar. It is known that this may affect your ability to maneuver ... still it is a way how to get your things from A to B when cycling.

Or just carry your bag in one hand while the other one is on the handlebar... This might be even sketchier, but still, a way how to get from A to B.

If it gets really hard to cycle with your bag... you can always hop off the bike.

Although, we believe that you should just upgrade your bike with some front rack. It does not have to be a basket (leave it for the woman). As you can see it is chic, easy and lets face it - you can carry a lot more if you have to.

Spoke too soon about baskets and leaving them to women... This one suits the handsome gentleman really good.

Happy cycling!

Portraits of Cyclists - Sofie: “Copenhagen has a nice dynamic thanks of the cyclists riding in the streets"

Sofie

“I'm from Copenhagen. I cycle every day with this second-hand bike. Cycling does cost anything and it's a good way to exercise, so I don't even have to think about going to the gym.

I like cycling in Nørrebrogade, since the bike lanes are extremely wide. I also appreciate cycling along the lakes, on the bike lane covered by the trees.

I think that in Copenhagen, you have a nice dynamic thanks of the cyclists riding in the streets and you don't find it in other city.”

“What is the funniest memory from your childhood related to cycling?”
“A friend and I liked riding our bikes without the hands on the handlebar. But an old man living in the street was always annoyed seeing us doing that. He was always shouting that it was dangerous and he did not want to call the ambulance. But we never stop doing it."

Portraits of cyclists - Karen: “I'm wearing my “safe outfit”

Karen

I'm from Copenhagen. I cycle every day on my old bicycle. It's how I get around in the city. I like biking around in Christianshavn.

Today, I'm wearing my “safe outfit”. It's my all black outfit. I know that I can go where I want and do what I want wearing these clothes.

Do you remember the first day you cycled alone?”

Yes, of course. I lived in Østerbro, my mum was running next to me holding the stick tied at the back on the bike and when I turned my head I realized that she was not here anymore. I was cycling by myself.”

Dennis - “I bought this bike on the first day I settled down in Copenhagen”

Denis

I'm from Sweden. I live in Copenhagen since I'm studying architecture here. I love the city. I cycle everyday to get around. I bought this bike on the first day I settled down in Copenhagen.
A few weeks after my bike disappeared. One day, I was getting off the bus when I saw it parked just around the corner. So, I took it back.”

Do you have a favorite route to cycle through the city?”
By the water! When the weather is sunny it can happen that I do a quick detour to follow the canals in Christianshavn. Sometimes, I also jump off the bike and walk.
The cyclists are the best thing about this city and being a cyclist make me definitely a part of it.”

How do you think cycling in the streets of Copenhagen will influence the architect you'll become?”
It's the best way to go from A to B. So, I'll pay attention to integrate bikes in my projects. I'd say to other cities: look at Copenhagen, how well it works. Just put white stripes on the streets and let the cyclists come.”

Portraits of cyclists - The cyclist & the rose: “My bike is like a common object”

Rose & Cyclist - portrait
"I bike every day to go to work.
I bought my bike 5 years ago. It is like an common object to me. Nothing special. Just a means of transport.

I lived in America and there, people were sometimes surprised to hear me saying that I bike every day. It seems so normal to me."

I feel free when I use my bike. I like being able to go where I want, when I want. I'm a real cyclist. I don't like waiting for the bus."

"What is your relationship to your bike?"
"I hate my bike. I'm looking for a new one."

After browsing 1,000+ pictures my conclusion is that Copenhagen men just do not use petit bags ever - for anything at all. Semi-petit shoulder bag is as close as it gets.
