A bit more on ice skates and bikes: I was walking on the lakes one late evening and many were enjoying some night skating. These copenhageners were taking a break in their hockey game played in the soft yellowish light of the snow-clad night city.
You Danes have such wonderfully solid, practical city bikes. Where I live (Philadelphia) about all you see are bikes made for racing or off-road riding, even though the city is mostly flat and few ride off road (however, the quality of the roads is often worse than natural terrain). I guess we Yanks can be about bicycles like we are about cars -- SUVs and trucks where no one needs them.
Extremely beautiful,.. what is the word for quiet, empty, stillness, beauty all in one? A whole other world than what I am used to... wow.
