After I have turned into a sparetime-photographer-wannabe, I have gotten painfully aware of the seasonal scarcity of light. It is (very) challenging to shoot in the dark, but quite fun though. (Yes, these are from just before the snowfall.)

The second picture is a poster material, definitely!
Here in Montreal (close to 45 degrees north), it's about 8 hours light to 16 dark at this time of year. You being that much farther north, I suspect the balance is even more tilted.
i know what you mean... i have started using a bounce flash (flash pointed at ceiling) so that in the winter i can shoot indoors in earnest. what a relief!
but i do love these shots, especially the second one! cheers patrick

The day is 10 hours 28 minutes shorter than on the summer solstice.
That first picture is great!
Basicly the same lattitude as Alaska ;-)
I love these photos: gorgeous colors and the blurred effect of the background with the sharp focus on the rider.
word verification is "qualti" which tells me even the randomizer is impressed with the quality of photography!
