Another fantastic series from our correspondent in Japan,
Stephen Crawford. Brilliant Japanese Cycle Chic.
In my humble opinion, only Japan comes close to Copenhagen for the sheer saturation of bicycles and fashion.
I can't get enough of Stephen's photos. I miss Japan madly and ache to touchdown in Narita again.
Great to see some folding and other small-wheeled bicycles!
ReplyDeleteLOVING this blog. just discovered it while looking up where to buy bikes in copenhagen. will be biking from there down to france in may. thinking i should bring my stilettos.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, I heard that some of the mommies there just put their new babies into the basket in the front! I'm not sure how safe that is... but if it's status quo, hey, that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's illegal in some places in Japan to drop off your kids at school in a car. Awesome!
It is amazing how quickly trends can travel around the world- I have seen a number of Asian women on folders or mini bikes that are obviously not American market bikes in San Francisco. Until this winter, I hardly saw any of them, now they are quite common.

ReplyDeleteuhmmm, ahum...*cough*, *waving hand* :). It's really time to get your butt over here!
mini bikes are hot among the young, urban fashionista here in CPH. used, vintage bikes, with rust, of course.
ReplyDeletemarc... third place is not bad!
