Bundles of Cycle Chic

Bundled
Taken a week or so back, this cyclist is well bundled up against the bitter wind and looking smashing in the process.

Bags and Things
Another bundle of chic, complete with shopping.

  1. tell me more about that style of rack in the top photo. It looks like a porteur rack. Can you do a section about front racks too?

  2. good idea for a series. Kronan is known for their front racks, as is Velorbis Short John. But many people put their own on.

  3. It's hard to look chic when you're bundled up, but they definitely pull it off!

  4. That first one really gives you the chill affect.

One nice thing about truly cold weather is the sun will be shining. It's -30C in Minneapolis, right now. But at least the sun is shining.

ps. the verification word is Sunify. ?

  5. Ok so here's the thing. We live in LA and ride our bikes a lot - daily bringing the kids across Santa Monica to their schools. My wife is a fan, I'm easing her into it more and more, and we love the pictures of fashioable cyclists we find here. But everytime my wife chimes in, "Yeah, they look great cause they aren't wearing helmets..." Which of course is true. She says if she's done up her hair (not a huge process or anything) then she doesn't want to get on the bike, due to the helmet-head issues that will follow. So what do we do? Leave the helmets at home? Forego fashion for safety in the streets of LA? A real Sophie's Choice...

  6. you could always arm yourselves with the good sense of the Slow Bicycle Movement and the relevant science about bicycle helmets. A tasty, sensible cocktail.

  7. Mikael-Speaking of helmets, is that a shiny silver head bucket hanging off the frame in picture #2? I am horrified. 10 point style deduction.

Spiderleggreen- if you notice the word verification, may I suggest trying to make a sentence with it... mine is currently 'hypsau'

    - The fish with ginger tasted a bit flat until we added hypsau sauce. It makes everything taste better!
