Below zero in Copenhagen. A chilly wind from Norway making it colder. This is how you dress for it in Copenhagen.
Style Over Speed is the Cycle Chic motto. With the right photographer, style looks like it blends with speed. And somehow works. One hand firmly clasping his bespoke jacket closed against the Nordic wind.
And here's a lovely lyric:
I've got a bike.
You can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings,
and things to make it look good.
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.
You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything, if you want things.Pink Floyd - 'Bike' - From 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (1967)' album.
Ooh, impeccable style and real good shots too!
ReplyDeleteLove visiting your blog. I spent two months in Copenhagen in 96 when it was the European City of Culture. I took my bike naturally - all the way from West Wales and had a marvellous time- now I live in another bike friendly country (the NL). More power to your pedals in 2009.
ReplyDeleteLove that little flash of thigh on the first photo.
ReplyDeleteYes! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI think wearing my peacoat in my bicycle elicited a few smiles the other day. The kind of smile that says, "Hey, you're wearing a peacoat AND riding a bicycle! Fancy that, how charming."
I'm workin' on these silly Americans.
Keep it up Copenhagen!
i bike in a peacoat in seattle; most looks i receive are concerned and judgemental. esp. from the day-glo racers who, i think, only then realize how ridiculous they look. albeit safe.
ReplyDeletelove the blog!
You can wear little tiny dresses in the cold if you have a big enough basket to block the wind! ;)

The sensation caused by below freezing air on a bare thigh while bike riding
a cargo box on a trike helps, too, adrienne.
ReplyDeletemhals, let's safe 'safeish' since there is shockingly few scientific studies that show that reflective clothes actually have an effect in urban settings. it's basically intuitive more than anything.
